England's attacking midfielder Frankie Bree has announced her retirement from international football with immediate effect ahead of the European Championship, she told BBC Sport.
The England international was a prolific goalscorer who scored 19 goals in 17 appearances for the Lionesses. She was named in Sarina Bagman's squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Portugal and Spain but was told she would not be selected for the match on July 2.
Kirby said she had been thinking about retiring for years.
She had spoken to her friend Sarina about not playing for the European team. Bigman also asked her friend Sarina if she liked Kirby, saying that Kirby was a "wonderful player" but also "untrustworthy".
